Privacy policy — Chrome extension

Last updated: May 14, 2026

1. About this policy

This policy describes how the Fyncha browser extension (“the Extension”) published on the Chrome Web Store processes data. The Extension is a companion to the Fyncha desktop application, which runs locally on the user's computer. The general fyncha.com privacy policy is available at fyncha.com/confidentialite.

Publisher: SASU Matejicekme, 12 T Rue Principale, 57580 Vatimont, France (SIREN 989 089 032). Contact: jordan@matejicek.me.

2. Principle — no third-party server collection

Fyncha operates no server that receives data from the Extension. The Extension communicates exclusively with the Fyncha desktop application installed by the user on their own machine, at the local address http://127.0.0.1:3741 (loopback, never reachable from the outside).

Data read from Etsy therefore does not leave the user's computer through the Extension. The publisher (Matejicekme) has no access to this data.

3. Data read from Etsy pages

When the user opens a listing in the Etsy listing editor (URLs matching etsy.com/your/shops/me/tools/listings/edit/* or etsy.com/your/shops/me/listing-editor/edit/*), the Extension reads, on the user's request, the following fields from the displayed page:

  • Listing title
  • Listing description
  • Tags
  • Primary image URL
  • Detected primary language (2-letter code: fr, en, de, etc.)
  • Numeric Etsy listing ID (extracted from the URL)
  • If present: title, description and tags of the translation tabs (per language)

No other field on the page is read: no pricing information, no statistics, no seller-account data, no buyer data.

This data is sent via the local API http://127.0.0.1:3741/api/extension/import to the desktop application, which stores it locally in the Fyncha software's database on the user's machine.

4. Data stored by the Extension (chrome.storage.local)

The Extension uses only Chrome's storage permission to keep, on the user's computer:

  • Local token allowing the Extension to authenticate with the Fyncha desktop application on 127.0.0.1:3741. This token is generated by the desktop app, manually copied by the user into the Extension, and is only used for that local communication.
  • Interface preferences for the Extension (display language, UI options). No personally identifying data is stored for this purpose.

The contents of chrome.storage.local never leave the user's machine. The Extension does not synchronize anything via chrome.storage.sync.

5. Manifest permissions and justifications

  • storage — store the local authentication token and preferences (see section 4).
  • host_permissions https://www.etsy.com/* — inject the content script on Etsy listing edit pages in order to read the fields listed in section 3 and to write back, on the user's request, the rewrite proposals returned by the desktop application.
  • host_permissions http://127.0.0.1:3741/* — communicate with the local Fyncha desktop application. This address is a loopback (“localhost”) and is never reachable from the Internet.

6. What the Extension does not do

  • No telemetry, no analytics, no tracking pixels.
  • No third-party cookies, no advertising.
  • No data sent to any Fyncha server or third-party server.
  • No sale, rental or sharing of data to third parties.
  • No use of data for purposes other than the service described (rewriting the user's Etsy listings).
  • No reading of pages outside the Etsy listing-edit URLs listed in the manifest.

7. Calls to the Claude model (Anthropic)

The Extension itself does not call any AI service. Calls to the Claude model are made by the Fyncha desktop application, with the user's personal Anthropic API key. See the general privacy policy, section 5, for details on these calls (transfer outside the EU governed by the Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework).

8. Retention and deletion

Data stored by the Extension (token, preferences) remains on the user's machine as long as the Extension is installed. Uninstalling the Extension fully removes this data via Chrome's standard mechanisms.

Data read from Etsy is not retained by the Extension: it is forwarded to the desktop application and managed according to that application's rules (local storage on the user's machine).

9. Your rights (GDPR)

Since no personal data is processed by the publisher through the Extension, exercising GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, restriction) concerns mainly the Fyncha account on fyncha.com (see general policy, section 7).

For any question regarding the Extension, contact jordan@matejicek.me. In case of disagreement, you may lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

10. Updates

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the Extension or applicable regulations. The date of last modification is shown at the top of the page. The most recent version is always published at fyncha.com/confidentialite-extension.
